Overview
Virtual Drive settings allow you to play DVD and Blu-ray image files in MediaPortal using Videos. However the settings for DVD image files are the same as those for DVDs.
Virtual Drive Settings
This section is only visible in expert mode. |
Daemon Tools and Virtual CloneDrive are separate applications for mounting CD/DVD/Blu-ray-images on virtual drives. MediaPortal can use these applications for automounting CD/DVD/Blu-ray-images in Videos. Image files are shown as folders when this option is enabled.
Automount image files
If this checkbox is selected, image files will automatically be mounted when playing image files in MediaPortal. Image files are not visible in MediaPortal if this options is unchecked (unless the extension is added to the Video Extension list in which case it will not be automounted).
Drive tool
Enter the path to your Daemon Tools or Virtual CloneDrive executable which MediaPortal will use to mount the image..
The default path is usually something like the following:
Daemon Tools | C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTAgent.exe |
Daemon Tools Lite | C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe |
Virtual CloneDrive | C:\Program Files (x86)\Elaborate Bytes\VirtualCloneDrive\daemon.exe |
Virtual drive
Drive letter where the mounted image files are going to appear as a drive. This is not arbitrary. Enter the drive letter the virtual drive software assigns to mounted image files.
Drive Number
These tools support up to four drives. Enter the number of the drive you want to use (0 to 3). Keep in mind that the first drive number is 0.
Drive Type
Daemon Tools Pro supports multiple types of drives, i.e. dt, scsi and ide. The default drive type for all Daemon Tools versions is dt.
If you use Virtual CloneDrive select the type vcd.
Supported Images
A list of extensions to be treated as images.
Default button
This button resets the list of the supported image extensions.
Ask before playing image files
If you check this option, you will be asked if you want to start playing the selected image. If this option is unchecked, MediaPortal will start to play your disc image immediately.
Notes
- These settings should be the same as configured in Daemon Tools or Virtual CloneDrive!
- You don't need to start your virtual image software before running MediaPortal. They will be executed on demand and on-the-fly within MediaPortal, transparently.
- The virtual image will be unmounted when playback stops.
- Images are visible in Videos Shares view and can be processed as regular video files. Movie info can be also added to the video database (using the F3 key or context menu item for IMDb lookup).
- If you are still using Daemon Tools v4.03, ensure that Secure Mode is not ticked.
- Sometimes mounting images can take time. If it exceeds the timeout (10 seconds), a new dialog (OK/Cancel) appear to ask if you wish to "Keep trying for another 60 seconds?".
